Chanse Foster, Solar, Navajo Nation

Chanse Foster, who has been in the industry for 1 year, is the Operations Manager at Navajo Power Home.

Why is clean energy important to you? Clean energy is important to me because it utilizes a less destructive and less extractive source for power and promotes sustainable lifestyles.

What did you do prior to working in clean energy? Prior to working in clean energy, I was working for a local nonprofit doing projects in food, water, and economic security on the Navajo nation. I transitioned because I was offered a great opportunity to learn more about business management.

What's a memorable clean energy project you’ve worked on? One of the most memorable moments for me was providing energy access to a loving grandmother whose main desire for having access to energy was so she could provide cold milk and ice cream to her grandchildren who lived with her.

What do you wish more people knew about the clean energy industry? It's the industry of the future!

Is there anything else you’d like to share? The Navajo Nation is a great place to implement our solar electricity service because it's a fast, reliable, and hassle-free option that aligns with our lifestyles. There are many strong independent families living in remote areas that face many challenges unique to tribal lands, such as land leasing requirements. These challenges, along with others, hinder them from equitable access to basic needs such as water and electricity. Our goal is for all families to have access to power!
