Clean Energy Spotlight: LaTisha Phillips & Aaron Apmann
For #veteransday we’re celebrating two vets who have fought for #nationalsecurity in uniform and and now fight for greater #energysecurity via #cleanenergy. Meet LaTisha Phillips and Aaron Apmann of Onyx Renewable Partners, a leading renewable energy developer from Blackstone Energy Partners.
Before transitioning to #cleanenergy, Phillips served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, most recently as Chief of Legislative Affairs. Last year, she pivoted to the world of #renewables, thanks to the Hiring Our Heroes Program by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council’s Solar Ready Vets initiative. Using her legislative expertise and leadership skills, she now serves as the Director of Corporate and Public Affairs, focusing on external affairs and community relations at Onyx.
“#CleanEnergy provides an opportunity to make changes for our future. Being a member of the sustainability community makes me part of the solution to ensure that our planet is a better, cleaner place for future generations,” she told CE4AEF.
Apmann, meanwhile, transitioned to #cleanenergy after serving in the U.S. Navy as Seabee, Builder 3rd Class (BU3). He was responsible for building bases. In 2015, he left the navy and eventually jump-started his #cleanenergy career at Sunrun. Now, he serves as Associate Projects Manager at Onyx, focusing on designing, financing, constructing and maintaining #solar projects.
He told CE4AEF, “there is room for everyone in #cleanenergy, especially those who’ve served this country. Our leadership, problem-solving, and technical skills make us top-tier workers. And with President Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy Plan, more jobs are being created, putting veterans in even higher demand.”
No doubt, #cleanenergy jobs are #veterans jobs. In fact, veterans make up a bigger share of the #cleanenergy sector than just about any other sector: 10% of #cleanenergy vs. 5% of the U.S. economy.
LaTisha and Aaron's experience and expertise is notable, as both have served to protect this country while securing our #energy landscape. This #VeteransDay, we're proud to celebrate them and all the veterans that are contributing to their communities through #cleanenergy. Congratulations, LaTisha and Aaron.
