Why is clean energy important to you? I want to leave our world as healthy as we can for future generations, so they can enjoy what we’ve been fortunate to enjoy.
What’s your proudest accomplishment in clean energy Becoming a board member for the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association. For over 30 years, GLREA has led the way on renewable energy education and expansion in Michigan.
What did you do prior to working in clean energy? I was a student studying business.
How did you first get introduced to clean energy? Working as a door-to-door organizer for Clean Water Action, organizing and fundraising to help protect Michigan's public health and safety, in addition to protecting all of Michigan's waterways, including the Great Lakes.
What do you wish more people knew about the clean energy industry? You can help lead your community to energy transition as well.
What does your job mean to you and your family? I am a third generation farmer. My great grandfather was one of the first fruit farmers invited to Michigan's pristine and cherished Old Mission Peninsula. It’s the cherry capital of the world! It’s important to me to carry on his legacy of farming and that connection to the earth.
How is clean energy helping your community / state? Clean energy provides jobs, cleaner air and water, and inspiration for a more just, sustainable and equitable future in Michigan.
Why should congress invest in clean energy jobs? Fossil fuels will leave our world uninhabitable. We can’t continue our dependence on it. We must protect people, and that’s why Congress must invest and act on clean energy — immediately.
