Why is clean energy important to you? Clean energy is important to me because it offers a sustainable solution to address climate change and protect our planet's future. By reducing reliance on fossil fuels, clean energy helps to minimize harmful emissions and preserve our environment for future generations. Moreover, it promotes energy independence and security for countries, ensuring a more stable and self-sufficient future.

What’s your proudest accomplishment in clean energy? My proudest accomplishment in clean energy has been successfully building a robust business development pipeline for SCADA equipment and services, amounting to 1.65 GW. It was an immense challenge, especially considering the company had no prior track record in the US market, but the hard work paid off.

What did you do before entering clean energy? Before working in clean energy, I obtained a degree in biology and graduated with distinction. I also joined the military while in college to help cover my tuition expenses. Additionally, I worked as a part-time phlebotomist during my time as a student, gaining valuable experience in healthcare.

When were you first introduced to clean energy? I was first introduced to clean energy when I started working in business development for utility scale PV SCADA equipment. Ever since then, I have developed a deep passion for renewables and I haven't turned back since. I now develop utility scale solar and storage projects in Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia.

What should more people know about your role? I chose EDP because we develop, own, AND operate our assets. We are not quick flip developers. We care about the communities we come to. Additionally, we are not here to take over the entire energy sector. There needs to be a healthy equilibrium that has a diverse energy portfolio.

How does clean energy impact your community? Clean energy projects are truly transformative for the communities we develop in. They generate significant property tax revenue, often in the tens of millions of dollars. This financial boost is a game-changer, allowing these communities to invest in essential initiatives and services. Whether it's improving schools, strengthening infrastructure, or expanding public programs, these funds make a real difference in people's lives. It's incredibly rewarding to see how clean energy can foster growth and development, turning these areas into thriving communities.

What does clean energy mean to you and your family? Working in clean energy holds significant meaning for  both me and my family.  It allows me to contribute to a cause larger than myself, building on the sense of service I gained in the military.  Helping the US transition to clean energy creates a positive ripple effect, inspiring other countries to follow suit.  It's a privilege to be part of something so impactful.

Why should Congress invest in clean energy jobs, not fossil fuel jobs? I firmly believe that Congress should prioritize investing in clean energy jobs instead of fossil fuel jobs. Not only are fossil fuels exhaustible resources, but they also pose a significant threat to our planet's health. By shifting our focus to clean energy, we can ensure a sustainable and eco-friendly future for generations to come. Furthermore, bringing generation control stateside allows the US to rely less on other countries for vital resources required to create energy.
