Why is clean energy important to you? Clean energy is important to me as it aligns with my personal mission and values on prioritizing our environment for long term success and sustainability through responsible operating practices, from recycling cardboard at your local recycling center to investing in clean energy developments.

What’s your proudest accomplishment in clean energy? My proudest accomplishment in clean energy has been taking my education, experience, and passion for energy and wells and applying these to assist in the development of the first two horizontal geothermal wells ever drilled and completed.

What did you do before entering clean energy?Prior to working in clean energy, I worked in the oil and gas industry as an Operations Engineer in North Dakota and in water systems as a Water and Wastewater Engineer in Texas.

When were you first introduced to clean energy? I was first introduced to clean energy during college. While studying at the Colorado School of Mines, I participated in an industry externship with a geothermal operating company, analyzing drilling data and optimizing the drilling operations and well design. Clean energy continued to be ever present through my education in numerous classes, including those for my minor in Humanitarian Engineering, which focuses on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the Social License to Operate (SLO). It wasn’t until I began full-time employment in the energy industry that I started to recognize applications of CSR / SLO and the opportunity to take my engineering skills and passion for wells into a new path with geothermal energy.

What does your job mean to you and your family? For me, my job is a great turning point where my personal mission and values have now intertwined with my technical passions and aspirations. It symbolizes a fresh chapter with an opportunity to directly serve my local community as well as the broader population that I am excited to continue.

Why should Congress invest in clean energy jobs, not fossil fuel jobs? The human population is right on the cusp of a point of no return with our environmental degradation and existing energy source exhaustions, given remaining supply and increasing energy needs. We must recognize this pivotal point and act swiftly to support the growth and expansion of the clean energy industry, such as through prioritized investments and endorsements from Congress.
