AES Corporation, California

On Friday, July 22nd, Central Coast Community Energy (CCCE) and Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) celebrated the start of commercial operation for the Mountain View Wind Repowering Project, developed by The AES Corporation.

The project provides clean, renewable energy to Californians and will help support the transition to a carbon-free power grid. AES removed more than 100 old turbines and replaced them with 16 new Vestas turbines that deliver cost-competitive clean energy to the California communities they serve. The repowered 67 Megawatt (MW) facility will deliver 257 Gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean energy per year, enough electricity to power about 40,000 homes. (tweetfacebook postLinkedIn post). The event got coverage from the APP and Santa Barbra Independent.
